American Exploration Company, Inc. began in 1980 with a 100 acre oil lease in Texas and two drilling rigs. In the mid 80's the company was principally engaged in the acquisition and management of oil and gas properties, both for its own account, and in partnership with institutional and individual investors. During this period the company completed over thirty acquisitions on behalf of the company and its partners. The primary region was the Gulf States onshore, and the Gulf of Mexico offshore. Through a series of acquisitions, AMEX was able to position itself as one of the most innovative energy consortiums. American Exploration Company has been able to leverage experience, talent, and resources to break new ground in 2002 by establishing a physical oil trading arm. AMEX has recently entered into a long term strategic partnership to provide Power Generation and Co-Generation to emerging markets.
